From Dr. Stan:
Dr. Stan
"I grew up in small towns in Southern Illinois.  I have always thought that living in the Midwest gave me an edge on common sense. People from my hometown would look for the simplest answer no matter how complex the question. To have any value or show any integrity, I grew up thinking that the truth was expressed in short, concise and clear thoughts.  It wasn't until college that I realized how important those early lessons were to me.  Getting to the point  in the straightest possible line has always been my writing style. Being verbose came from my training as a chiropractic physician.  It seems we chiropractors have to use extensive detail to explain who we are and what it is we do.

"I remember growing up and listening to the poetry and letters my mother and my sisters would compose.  All of us had a talent for putting our thoughts into words.  I had always assumed everyone could write their feelings better than they could speak them.  When I was in high school, I had written a paper on the Viet Nam war.  My teacher accused me of copying the entire paper or she thought someone else had to have written it.  She forced me to stay after class and write a short paper on the conflict I had created with my paper.  I was so completely hurt and angry with her distrust, the words flowed from me without a hint of writer's block.  She may not have appreciated the feelings I had expressed but my style convinced her that I did, indeed, write my own paper. She gave me a hug and told me she looked forward to reading my many books in the future.  From that day forward, I was a writer.

"I truly believe in my work.  I think my books will be of interest to many people and may well change lives for the better."
